143: File Save

144: File Save As

The current program settings can be saved in a Project File or as a Parameters File. By default, these files are stored in the Projects subdirectory as set in your cpt.ini file. The settings will be saved as a Project File if File ~ Save As Parameters File is checked. This menu item toggles between the option to save as a Parameters File or as a Project File.

Save
Stores the current settings in the currently opened Project or Parameters File. Save will store the current settings in the currently opened Project or Parameters File. If a Project File is not currently open, Save As is invoked automatically.
Save As
If a Project File is not currently open, this will be invoked automatically from Save. Save As will first prompt for a name for the Project or Parameters File, and will then store the current settings in this file.
The name of the Project or Parameters File will appear in the title of the CPT Window if the file is saved successfully.

A Project File saves the settings and results (if available) in a binary file that cannot be easily read or edited outside of CPT, but can read by the GUI and the batch version of CPT. The Parameters File is in text format and can be easily read and edited, but it does not contain results and can be read only by the batch version. The Project and Parameters Files contain only the current settings, and do not store a history of changes.

If a Project File has not been opened using File ~ Open , and then a Parameters File is saved, only settings that have been modified since will be saved and all other settings will be left as their respective default values. However, if a Project File has not been opened, all settings that can be changed will be saved.
