File Formats

Formats follow standard FORTRAN formatting conventions, except that formatted direct access is not permitted. It is recommended that the default settings of formatted sequential output be used to obtain standard text (ASCII) files in which fields are separated by tabs. The tab separator can be replaced by a space or comma by selecting the appropriate option in Edit ~ File formats from the Output Results window. Formatted output files are given the .txt file extension, and are saved in CPT version 16 format, while unformatted files are given the .dat extension. It is possible to omit the CPT file format tags in the standard formatted output files by unchecking Options ~ Include CPT tags from the Output Results window.

GrADS output formats are available for maps, in which case the binary file and the control file are created with the same name.
