417: Goodness Index

The Goodness Indices for the correlation scores can be viewed, but the results may not be the same as the optimised goodness index shown in the results window because the optimised results may be based on the transformed data, whereas these results are calculated using untransformed data. The optimisation is not shown here. Results are shown for three different methods of averaging:

• Average all goodness indices: indicating how well the model works when forecasting everywhere
• Average only the positive goodness indices: indicating how well the model works when forecasting only in locations with positive skill
• Average all goodness indices setting negative values to zero: indicating how well the model works when issuing climatological forecasts in areas with no skill (see Skill Masking to force climatological forecasts).
