All the reanalysis datasets are from the NCEP-NCAR CDAS-1 Reanalysis . CPT provides access to monthly data for 1949 to date. The data are typically updated towards the end of the first week of each month. The following variables are provided:

• mean sea-level pressure (MSLP)
• geopotential heights at various pressure levels
• horizontal wind components at various pressure levels

If multiple pressure levels, and / or U and V wind components together, are selected, CPT will read these as multiple fields.

The reanalysis data are likely to be most useful in diagnostic (i.e., with Options ~ Data Synchronous Predictors switched on) rather than predictive analyses.
